10 Signs That The Highways Of America Are Being Transformed Into A High Tech Prison Grid

Got this from “The American Dream” blog. Could not agree more! Here is a link to the article.

Once upon a time, the open highways of America were one of our greatest symbols of liberty and freedom.  Anyone could hop in a car and set off for a new adventure at any time and even our music encouraged us to “get our kicks on route 66″.  But today everything has changed.  Now the highways of America are being steadily transformed into a high tech prison grid.  All over the country, thousands upon thousands of surveillance cameras watch our highways and automated license plate readers are actually being used to track vehicle movements in some of our largest cities.  Many state and local governments have come to view our highways as money machines and our control freak politicians have established a vast network of toll booths, red light cameras and speed traps to keep cash endlessly pouring in.  If all of that wasn’t enough, TSA “VIPR teams” are now hitting the interstates and conducting thousands of “unannounced security screenings” each year.  Driving on the highways of America used to be a great joy, but now “Big Brother” is rapidly sucking all of the fun out of it.  Eventually, it may get to the point where Americans simply dread having to go out on the highway.

The following are 10 signs that the highways of America are being transformed into a high-tech prison grid….#1 Surveillance CamerasAll over the United States, a vast network of surveillance cameras is carefully watching our highways.  The following is an excerpt from a recent article in the Baltimore Sunabout this phenomenon….

The room is large and well-lit, and it buzzes with activity even though its occupants remain seated. The video screen at the front of the room is as wide as an IMAX, though not quite as tall. It consists of 64 smaller screens – 16 columns of four apiece – that monitor every inch of interstate between Great Wolf Lodge and the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. There is an emphasis on tunnels and bridges, and one corner screen is tuned in to a 24-hour weather report. If you are driving on an highway in Hampton Roads, VDOT is watching you.

#2 Automated License Plate ReadersIn a previous article, I detailed how automated license plate readers are being used to track the movements of every single vehicle that enters Washington D.C.A recent Washington Post articleexplained that most people do not even know that they are there….

More than 250 cameras in the District and its suburbs scan license plates in real-time, helping police pinpoint stolen cars and fleeing killers. But the program quietly has expanded beyond what anyone had imagined even a few years ago. With virtually no public debate, police agencies have begun storing the information from the cameras, building databases that document the travels of millions of vehicles.Nowhere is that more prevalent than in the District, which has more than one plate-reader per square mile, the highest concentration in the nation. Police in the Washington suburbs have dozens of them as well, and local agencies plan to add many more in coming months, creating a comprehensive dragnet that will include all the approaches into the District.

A lot of police cruisers are being outfitted with this technology around the nation as well.So if you see a police car pull up behind you, there is a very good chance that a computer has already read your license plate and is giving the officer all of your information.#3 Ridiculous RegulationsSome of the new “auto safety laws” going in around the nation are absolutely absurd. For example, do you buckle up your pet when you go for a ride?  Well, in New Jersey you can now be fined up to $1000 for not having your pet properly restrained while you are out driving.#4 Outrageous FinesIn many areas of the country, unpaid traffic tickets can rapidly become a major financial burden. For example, the new tolls on the 520 floating bridge in Seattle are absolutely killingsome commuters…..

Registered vehicle owners who do not pay their toll within 80 days or more will be mailed a $40 civil penalty for each unpaid toll transaction in addition to a $5 reprocessing fee.WSDOT confirmed some tolls plus penalty fees have added up to more than $1,000.

#5 Oppressive Toll RoadsToll roads have become one of the favorite “revenue raising tools” for our politicians. At this point the tolls on some roads have become so incredibly oppressive that many people simply cannot afford to drive on them anymore. And for some reason the toll increases are coming especially fast and furious this year.A recent USA Today articlesummarized some of the oppressive toll increases that we are seeing all over the nation….

•California and Washington authorized high-occcupancy toll (HOT) lanes, where tolls rise or fall depending on traffic flow. Texas enacted laws authorizing private toll roads and allowing regional authorities to collect tolls. Indiana removed a provision requiring legislative approval for toll roads.•Some Maryland tolls will double this year as the state seeks money to rehabilitate aging roads, bridges and tunnels. The use of tolls on interstate highways also is spreading:•Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, a Republican, just won approval from the Federal Highway Administration to add tolls on Interstate 95 in his state. The state estimates that tolls on the heavily traveled corridor could generate $250 million over the first five years for expanding, improving and maintaining the highway.•New York and New Jersey recently announced that E-ZPass commuters will pay $1.50 more and cash customers $2 more to cross bridges and tunnels between the two states.•Georgia just created toll lanes on Interstate 85 in suburban Atlanta. The toll hikes are more than chump change: Cash tolls on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge jumped to $4 from $2.50, and to $12 from $8 on all the New York-New Jersey Hudson River crossings.

Toll roads are one of my pet peeves.  Any time I see a toll booth it immediately puts me in a bad mood.#6 Red Light CamerasRed light cameras are another favorite “revenue raising tool” for the control freaks that run things.Unfortunately, these cameras don’t always work right so a lot of innocent people end up getting ticketed. But politicians love them because they can raise a lot of cash.  The following is from a recent Business Insider article….

According to U.S. PIRG (Public Interest Research Group), nearly 700 U.S. cities and towns installed the cameras, which accounted for more than 90 percent of tickets issued for illegal right turns, or rolling stops. In one New Jersey town, PIRG found 2,500 tickets were issued at one intersection within the first two months of installing a camera.

#7 Speed TrapsIn the old days, speed traps were mostly about making the roads safer.Today, they are mostly about raising money. One police chief up in Michigan has even admitted that the nature of his job has fundamentally changed….

“When I first started in this job 30 years ago, police work was never about revenue enhancement, but if you’re a chief now, you have to look at whether your department produces revenues.”

Speed traps are becoming more common almost everywhere, but some areas of the country are worse than others.A recent report from the National Motorists Associationranked how likely you are to get a speeding ticket in each of the 50 U.S. states….

After crunching the numbers, the NMA found that Nevada is the state most likely to issue you a traffic ticket, followed by Georgia and Alabama. In 2010 Florida took the top spot and Georgia and Nevada tied for second place. The state where you’re least likely to get ticketed is Wyoming, followed closely by Montana. These two ranked at the bottom in 2010 as well.

#8 Government SpyingIt has been revealed that the federal government has been secretly putting GPS tracking devices on thousands of vehicles in order to track the movements of people that they are interested in watching. Most of the time the people involved have not even been charged with any crimes. The following is a short excerpt from a recent Wired magazine articleabout this phenomenon….

The 25-year-old resident of San Jose, California, says he found the first one about three weeks ago on his Volvo SUV while visiting his mother in Modesto, about 80 miles northeast of San Jose. After contacting Wired and allowing a photographer to snap pictures of the device, it was swapped out and replaced with a second tracking device. A witness also reported seeing a strange man looking beneath the vehicle of the young man’s girlfriend while her car was parked at work, suggesting that a tracking device may have been retrieved from her car. Then things got really weird when police showed up during a Wired interview with the man.The young man, who asked to be identified only as Greg, is one among an increasing number of U.S. citizens who are finding themselves tracked with the high-tech devices. The Justice Department has said that law enforcement agents employ GPS as a crime-fighting tool with “great frequency,” and GPS retailers have told Wired that they’ve sold thousands of the devices to the feds.

#9 Extraction DevicesIf you get pulled over by police, you never know what to expect these days.  Previously, I have written about how law enforcement authorities in some parts of the U.S. are using “extraction devices” to download data out of the cell phones of motorists that they pull over. The following is how a recent article on CNET Newsdescribed the capabilities of these “extraction devices”….

The devices, sold by a company called Cellebrite, can download text messages, photos, video, and even GPS data from most brands of cell phones. The handheld machines have various interfaces to work with different models and can even bypass security passwords and access some information.

#10 VIPR TeamsIf all of the above was not bad enough, now we have to deal with TSA “VIPR teams” terrorizing us on the highways. If you regularly travel across the country, there is a good chance that you have already encountered one of their “unannounced security screenings”.The following is from a local news report down in Tennessee about how local authorities are working with VIPR teams to fight “terrorism” on the interstates….

You’re probably used to seeing TSA’s signature blue uniforms at the airport, but now agents are hitting the interstates to fight terrorism with Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response (VIPR).“Where is a terrorist more apt to be found? Not these days on an airplane more likely on the interstate,” said Tennessee Department of Safety & Homeland Security Commissioner Bill Gibbons.Tuesday Tennessee was first to deploy VIPR simultaneously at five weigh stations and two bus stations across the state.

TSA VIPR teams now conduct approximately 8,000 “unannounced security screenings” at subway stations, bus terminals, seaports and highway rest stops each year. Are you starting to see what I am talking about? All of this “security” is becoming extremely oppressive. We don’t need “Big Brother” constantly watching us, tracking us and fining us on our highways. So do you have any examples of how the highways of America are being transformed into a high tech prison grid to add to the list above? Please feel free to post a comment with your thoughts below….

Final Steps To A US Police State- “Federalize” Local Law Enforcement

First Step: Undermine a Nations Morality. This will lead to God’s judgement and in our case making the US Constitution irrelevant. God’s patience has a limit, and eventually He will remove His hand and allow judgement to fall. And if you think “being a Christian” will spare you from God’s wrath, I would encourage you to read the Old Testament Prophets whom chronicled Israel’s many captivity’s throughout their existence. There was always a rement brought back to the land, but it was after EVERYONE was killed or taken into captivity first.

Second Step: Install a government controlled “fiat monetary system” and “fractional reserve banking” in order to create an ever-increasing class within society that becomes dependent on the government. The inflation the ever-increasing fiat money necessarily causes, simultaneously undermines the currency (Cloward and Piven). Every time a good crisis comes along that cannot be allowed to go to waste…we just print more. When private financial institutions make very poor  investments, and then are deemed “to big to fail”, their PRIVATE debts are transferred DIRECTLY to the tax payer in the form of bailouts and stimulus packages. Now the taxpayer is “enslaved” to ludicrous amounts of debt, $1.2 quadrillion in derivatives market debt alone. Currencies can be re-valued, currencies can even be changed, but eventually, all of it leads to DEFAULT.

Thrid Step: Control the masses with “bread and circuses” by controlling the media.

Fourth Step: While 90% of the country is distracted with bread and circuses (sports, work, church, etc) Legislate the Police State in the name of a prominent Boogy Man of the day. In Orwell’s “1984″ the boogy man was Emmanuel Goldstein. For us it WAS Bin Laden. Guess they will have to define a new boogy man…oh wait they have.. its tea party patriots.

In the name of terrorism we saluted the flag while Congress passed the Patriot Act, Warner Defense Authorization Act, NDAA, and several Executive Orders, in the name of fighting Bin Laden.

Fifth Step:  “Federalize” local police. Arm them to the hilt with the money that was supposed to go towards “fixing” the economy via federal grants.

Sixth Step: Wait for (or create) “THE emergency” capable of starting widespread panic. And I stop at 6, because according to scriptures, 6 is the number of man. I reserve the 7th for God because 7 is the number of perfection, it is God’s number. And only God can save us from whatever happens next.

Get mad at Obama for speeding things up if you wish, but this all started with Bush. immediately after 9/11. We all know about the Patriot Act, NDAA, etc. But did you know Bush created NORTHCOM?

“In 2002, President Bush signed a new Unified Command Plan (UCP) establishing NORTHCOM.  NORTHCOM is a regional combatant command with an area of responsibility (AOR) that includes the continental United States, Alaska, Canada, Mexico, and surrounding waters out to approximately 500 nautical miles, including the Gulf of Mexico and the Straits of Florida.

NORTHCOM’s mission is to “anticipate and conduct Homeland Defense and Civil Support operations within the assigned area of responsibility to defend, protect, and secure the United States and its interests.”

The NORTHCOM Commander also commands North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), a bi-national U.S. and Canadian organization charged with air and maritime warning and airspace control”

Organization Chart for Department of Defense (DOD). As you can see NorthCom is listed as a unit under the DOD. Leon Panetta is the Secretary of Defense (ie the Secretary of the Department of Defense) and he reports directly to President Obama, as Obama is the Commander-in-Chief of the US Armed Sevices.

Department of Homeland Security

“Department of Homeland Security was created through the integration of all or part of 22 different Federal departments and agencies into a unified, integrated Department, and how DHS has become a more effective and integrated Department, creating a strengthened homeland security enterprise and a more secure America that is better equipped to confront the range of threats we face.” DHS website.

Department of Homeland Security now comprises:

US Coast Guard, FEMA, ICE, US Secret Service, TSA, Border Patrol, (and other agencies).

So it would seem NorthCom and Homeland Security’s mission are virtually identical. NorthCom is “military” (part of the Defense Department) and Homeland Security is “civil” (department of the Executive Branch of the Federal Government).

BOTH report directly to the POTUS.

And let’s not forget, DHS just ordered 450 million rounds of hollow-point ammunition.

Did you notice on the DHS orgchart that Janet Napalitano (Secretary of DHS) has a Chief of Staff. His name is Noah Kroloff. According to the DHS orgchart Kroloff has a “military advisor” that reports to him. That advisor is Coast Guard Rear Admiral Fred M. Midgette.

Wanna take a wild guess what military agency is on his resume?

From 2008-2010 Midgette served as the Coast Guard’s liaison officer to US Northern Command (or NorthCom).

And the Department of Defence openly admitted in 2008 that since NorthCom and Department of Homeland Security’s missions were practically identical that they would begin doing joint intelligence.

DOJ

Let’s not leave out the Department of Justice. Though historically DOJ’s mission has been to prosecute and enforce Federal law, it would seem according to its’ own website that DOJ’s mission is now also homeland security.

So that means that ALL the agencies under the DOJ umbrella including FBI, ATF, US Marshalls, DEA, and since the 2006 Patriot Act, the National Security Division (NSD).   “highest priority” is combating terrorism. And yes, the DOJ ALSO reports directly to the POTUS.

“The mission of the National Security Division is to carry out the Department’s [of Justice] highest priorityto combat terrorism and other threats to national security” “National” security and “Homeland” security are the same thing.

So to quickly summarize: the mission’s of NORTHCOM, Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Justice are all identical: homeland security. You would think we had Russian Troops invading to have so much firepower alloted to the homeland…oh yeah, that’s right we do.

But didn’t President Obama recently tell us that the war on terror was over?

So I ask my readers; now that Homeland Security is armed, and is arming local police departments with armored vehicles, automatic weapons, body armor, riot gear etc.. isn’t it time to admit that Homeland Security is simply the 5th branch of the military that is exempt from the Posse Comitatus Act written in the 1800′s?

National Guard Flying Military Helicopters Over Lake Norman, Homeland Security Checking ID’s in Charlotte

Picture from News@Norman.com

National Guard story click here.

Don’t the State Troopers, Sheriff, and Police departments in Charlotte have their own Aquatic Rescue Teams? Is this what the National Guard is supposed to be doing?

And if you think the TSA’s mission is just keeping your airport safe…think again. This story has been covered EXTENSIVLEY in the alternative media, but I bet most of my Tea Party friends have not heard it. Click here for the LA Times story.

Reporting from Charlotte, N.C. — Rick Vetter was rushing to board the Amtrak train in Charlotte, N.C., on a recent Sunday afternoon when a canine officer suddenly   blocked the way. Three federal air marshals in bulletproof vests and two officers trained to spot suspicious behavior watched closely as Seiko, a German shepherd, nosed Vetter’s trousers for chemical traces of a bomb. Radiation detectors carried by the marshals scanned the 57-year-old lawyer for concealed nuclear materials.

When Seiko indicated a scent, his handler, Julian Swaringen, asked Vetter whether he had pets at home in Garner, N.C. Two mutts, Vetter replied. “You can go ahead,” Swaringen said.

The Transportation Security Administration isn’t just in airports anymore. TSA teams are increasingly conducting searches and screenings at train stations, subways, ferry terminals and other mass transit locations around the country.

“We are not the Airport Security Administration,” said Ray Dineen, the air marshal in charge of the TSA office in Charlotte. “We take that transportation part seriously.”

The TSA’s 25 “viper” teams — for Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response — have run more than 9,300 unannounced checkpoints and other search operations in the last year. Department of Homeland Security officials have asked Congress for funding to add 12 more teams next year.”

The Transportation Security Administration (a division of Homeland Security) conducted 9300 unannounced checkpoints in 2011, and now is asking to increase the number of VIPR teams, and for an additional $24 million in 2012 for what they call “surface transportation security”.

Is surface transportation security what they need bullet proof guard shacks for? Oh yes…along with the 450 MILLION rounds of .40 caliber hollow point ammunition (banned by the Geneva Convention from being used during war time, click here for the press release), in April Homeland Security began buying an un-disclosed number of Bullet Resistant Booths. UK Guardian: The TSA’s Mission Creep is Making the US a Police State

A TSA ‘viper’ (VIPR) team patrolling mass transit courtesy UK Guardian

It is a travesty that we have to depend on a journalist in the UK to tell the truth about what the TSA/Homeland Security is doing in the “Land of the Free”. Jennifer Abel with the UK Guardian reports:”In the past year, TSA’s snakelike VIPR (Visual Intermodal Prevention and Response) teams have been slithering into more and more bus and train stations – and even running checkpoints on highways – never in response to actual threats, but apparently more in an attempt to live up to the inspirational motto displayed at the TSA’s air marshal training center since the agency’s inception: “Dominate. Intimidate. Control.”

As Abel reports, this is happening in: Illinois, Virginia and Texas. The Gaspee has previously reported that checkpoints have also occurred in Tennessee. Click here for link.

Don’t forget Fox has already reported (click here) on Military Drills with armored helicopters in Chicago, and that citizens may NOT BE ALLOWED access to their homes during this summit.

In fact, in the past 6 months to a year, all of these things have happened:

Ron Paul is warning us to beware a possible false flag operation by our government. If you do not know what a “false flag” is please do an internet search on the term. It is a common tool used by governments to create a crisis, that only they in turn can resolve, and they go back to the days of Jesus!

Is there an announcement of some kind coming from this summit that US citizens may not tolerate? Is this why the police state seems to be accelerating at such a dramatic rate in the last year?

Rep. Patrick McHenry Voted To RESTRICT Your 1st Amendment Rights

The Following is a press release from Ken Fortenberry’s campaign. He is running against Rep. Patrick McHenry for the US 10th District Congressional seat.

Friday, March 16, 2012

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

McHenry votes against Free Speech, U.S. Constitution;

Washington politicians scaring public into becoming sheep. The U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights are being systematically ripped apart by Washington politicians, and U.S. Rep. Patrick McHenry is one of the attackers.

A bill that passed in the U.S. Congress this week  (H.R. 347) restricts the Constitutionally-granted free speech right of all Americans and makes it a felony to “enter or remain” in an area that government officials designate as “restricted.”

“This bill slaps every American right in the face and robs them of the freedom they are guaranteed in the U.S. Constitution,” said Ken H. Fortenberry, a Republican challenging McHenry in the May 8 primary. “For any American citizen to face a felony charge and a lengthy prison term for speaking out on any issue or politician is absolutely reprehensible.”

The law allows the Department of Homeland Security to designate a “building or grounds” where the president – or anyone protected by the Secret Service – to be a “restricted” access area if the event is deemed an event of “national significance.”

“This means that if a citizen shows up at an event where a presidential candidate is speaking or attends an event where a foreign official is present and shouts something they don’t like, the citizen could be hauled away in handcuffs to face a felony charge and jail time,” said Fortenberry. “This law is not only vague and overly broad, it clearly would not stand up to a Constitutional challenge in court,” said Fortenberry.

“The founders of our nation would roll over in their graves at how our Constitution is being trampled on by politicians who are afraid of public scrutiny and criticism. Under the guise of protecting our freedom, they are robbing us of our freedom, and we are letting them get away with it,” said Fortenberry.

“Mr. McHenry has once again turned his back on the Constitution and has sided with politicians and bureaucrats who are afraid to face the people who put them in office. This is the second time in less than a year that McHenry has sold us out. Last year he supported the National Defense Authorization Act which gives the president to authority to order any U.S. citizen anywhere in the world to be put behind bars indefinitely, without any charges or trial. The politicians are trying to scare the American people into becoming sheep and following them mindlessly while their rights are being stripped away.”

Fortenberry also lambasted the media for its lack of coverage about the legislation.

“I can’t believe that the media – the so-called protectors of our free speech – have sat on the sidelines and let this legislation become law without a peep of protest,” he said. “They ought to be ashamed of themselves for turning their backs on their responsibility to the First Amendment.”

I have always had my doubts about Rep. McHenry’s leadership abilities…but now I question his judgment.  If you live within this map, please visit Ken Fortenberry’s website (linked above) and see if you think he has better judgment than Rep. McHenry. If you agree he does, Ken will need you to go vote in the May 8th Primary.

Republican Congress Stomps Out 1st Amendment, Makes Protesting A FELONY!

Joe Wolverton with The New American writes:

On Monday, the U.S. House of Representatives voted nearly unanimously (388-3) in favor of H.R. 347, the Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act of 2011

A REPUBLICAN majority House of Representatives I might add.

The new legislation allows prosecutors to charge anyone who enters a building without permission or with the intent to disrupt a government function… or a special event of national significance as a federal offense.”

Who is tasked with deciding if an event is one of national significance? Homeland Security. I guess this will pave the way for seeing TSA agents in every nook and cranny instead of just the airport!
